Overview:

 The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is the only globally recognized certification for internal auditors. It is offered by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and is designed for professionals aiming to specialize in internal audit functions, internal controls, risk management, and governance within organizations.

Duration:

  • The duration to complete the CIA certification typically ranges from 12 to 18 months, depending on the pace at which the candidate prepares and attempts the exams.

The CIA certification consists of three parts:

  1. Part 1: Essentials of Internal Auditing

    • Foundations of Internal Auditing

  2. Part 2: Practice of Internal Auditing

  • Registration Fee: USD 115 (INR 9,000 approx.)

  • Exam Fees (Part 1, 2, and 3): USD 230 per part (INR 18,000 approx. per part)

Exams to Attend:

  • CIA Exams: Candidates must pass three exams (one for each part). The exams are conducted by the IIA at Prometric centers. Each exam consists of multiple-choice questions and assesses the candidate’s knowledge in internal auditing practices.

  • Eligibility: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, two years of work experience in internal auditing (or related fields), and must abide by the IIA’s Code of Ethics.
